If your new to google adwords chances are you’ve spent a lot of time selecting choice keywords that bring in visitors and sales to your site.
If your looking for a way to cut the fat our of your PPC budget then you need to take some time to create a negative keyword list to eliminate
paid clicks and make your campaign much more productive.
Negative keywords can be more important that the actual keyword that you are targeting to trigger your ad.
Negative keywords keep your ad from displaying for general quires and potentially being clicked .
A generic keyword can potentially bring in a lot more traffic to your website if you have the keyword selected to display your ad for a broad match.
Keep in mind that some campaigns can actually have far more negative keywords than actual keywords that trigger your ad.
Some of the more effective ones could have a single keyword for the campaign but have hundreds of negative keywords to really target the audience that you are looking for.
At the top of my negative keyword list in most off of my campaigns is the word “free”.
If you are trying to sell but bring your potential buyer in on the premise of free they will generally leave after not finding the freebie you targeted them for.
